AustraliaA-League 2026/27: Wellington Phoenix make a perfect start
The A-League Men is the top division of Australian football, founded in 2005, and it is one of the few national leagues to include clubs from another country: Wellington Phoenix and Auckland FC, who joined in 2024/25, are both from New Zealand. Twelve teams play a regular season of 26 rounds, and the top six go into a finals series that decides the champion in a Grand Final. Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory have won the most Grand Finals.
After two rounds Wellington Phoenix are the only side with a perfect record, six points from wins over Melbourne Victory and Central Coast Mariners. Western Sydney Wanderers, Macarthur and Sydney FC are unbeaten on four points; the Wanderers beat Auckland 5-2 last weekend.
Perth Glory have lost both of their games, and Adelaide United are still without a point after one match.
