ItalySerie A 2026/27: Inter and Lazio still level, Venezia beat Napoli for their first win
Serie A is Italy's top division, played as a single national league since 1929, and Juventus are its most successful club. Twenty teams meet home and away over 38 rounds. The top four qualify for the Champions League league phase, with further European places for the clubs just below, and the bottom three are relegated to Serie B. Inter are the defending champions after winning the 2025/26 title with 87 points, and Lautaro Martínez was the league's top scorer with 17 goals.
After seven rounds Inter and Lazio are level on 19 points and both unbeaten. Inter won 3-1 in Bologna, have won all four home games and have the best attack, 21 goals; Lazio won 3-0 at Juventus and have won all four away. Roma are third on 17 after beating Genoa 2-0 and have conceded only three goals, and AC Milan, 3-2 winners over Atalanta, are the fourth unbeaten side. Napoli are ninth.
Venezia beat Napoli 1-0 for their first win but are still bottom with three points. Fiorentina and Genoa are also in the relegation places, and Udinese, 17th, have lost five in a row.
Frosinone's Antonio Raimondo leads the scoring charts with seven goals, ahead of Roma's Donyell Malen with six, and Paulo Dybala has the most assists, four.
