Uruguayan Primera División 2026: Liverpool lead the Clausura after beating Peñarol

The Primera División is Uruguay's top division, and Peñarol and Nacional have won the large majority of its titles. The season is split into the Apertura, the Torneo Intermedio and the Clausura, all of which also count towards an annual table, and relegation is decided by points averages over recent seasons.

Peñarol still lead the annual table with 63 points from 33 games, four ahead of Deportivo Maldonado, but lost 1-0 to Liverpool, who now lead the Clausura with 24 points after eleven rounds, two ahead of Torque. Racing topped the Apertura, and Peñarol and Wanderers won the two groups of the Torneo Intermedio.

On points averages, Central Español, Danubio and Progreso are currently in the relegation places.
