Lens vs Sporting CP preview: two opening-night winners meet with Lens short of numbers
Lens and Sporting CP both took three points from the opening round of the Champions League league phase, and they meet at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on matchday two separated only by goal difference. Sporting, 3-1 winners last time out, are 7th; Lens, who edged a 3-2 win, sit 10th.
Domestic form points the other way. Sporting are 3rd in the Primeira Liga with 18 points from eight games and are unbeaten in the league this season (five wins, three draws). Lens are 10th in Ligue 1 on seven points from six, with one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five.
The hosts have a long absence list. A. Sima (muscle), J. Chavez (thigh) and M. Nawrocki (knee) are injured, J. Todibo and T. Hazard are listed as inactive, and I. Jourdren and M. Diarra are off the roster. Losing Sima hurts: he has two goals and an assist this season, behind only F. Thauvin, who leads Lens with five goals and two assists.
Sporting are without N. Santos (muscle) and R. Zalazar is a doubt. L. Suárez has been their main source of goals with seven, while Geny Catamo has added two goals and three assists.
