LASK vs Liverpool preview: an injury-hit Liverpool travel to Linz
LASK host Liverpool in Linz (18:45 CEST). Liverpool opened the league phase with a 2-1 win over Atlético Madrid, while LASK lost 1-0 in Athens against AEK.
Liverpool arrive in poor domestic form. They are ninth in the Premier League with nine points from six games and were beaten 3-0 at Anfield by Manchester City on Sunday. They are also short of attackers: Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo are all injured, as are Dominik Szoboszlai, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni. LASK are third in the Austrian Bundesliga with 16 points, but lost 2-0 at home to Rapid Vienna at the weekend and have won only one of their last four league matches.
The clubs met twice in the 2023/24 Europa League group stage, and Liverpool won both games: 3-1 in Linz and 4-0 at Anfield.
