The Ekstraklasa is Poland's top division, played since 1927, and Legia Warsaw are its most successful club. Eighteen teams meet home and away over 34 rounds. The champions enter the Champions League qualifiers, further places lead to the European qualifying rounds, and the bottom three are relegated to the I liga.

Lech Poznań are a point behind with a game in hand after beating Korona Kielce 6-1 and have the best attack, 27 goals. Legia Warsaw drew 1-1 at Cracovia and remain the only unbeaten team, and Pogoń Szczecin, 1-0 winners in Katowice, are fourth with a game in hand, four straight wins and the best defence, six goals conceded. Wisła Kraków have won all five home games.

At the bottom Raków Częstochowa won 2-1 at Wieczysta Kraków but are still last with six points, level with Śląsk Wrocław, who have lost five in a row. Radomiak Radom, 16th, have conceded 23 goals.

Pogoń's Jordi Sánchez leads the scorers with nine goals, one ahead of Katowice's Ilya Shkurin.
