Germany2. Bundesliga 2026/27: Hertha BSC win their first seven
The 2. Bundesliga is the second tier of German football, founded in 1974. Eighteen teams meet home and away over 34 rounds. The top two are promoted to the Bundesliga and third place plays a promotion play-off against the Bundesliga's 16th; at the other end, 16th place meets the third-placed team from the 3. Liga and the bottom two go down. Schalke 04 won the title last season ahead of SV Elversberg, and SC Paderborn went up through the play-off. Greuther Fürth's Noel Futkeu was the top scorer with 20 goals.
Hertha BSC have won all seven games, four of them away, and lead by four points from 1. FC Nürnberg, the only other unbeaten side. Heidenheim, relegated from the Bundesliga last season along with Wolfsburg and St. Pauli, are third. Kaiserslautern have the best defence, four goals conceded.
Holstein Kiel are bottom and still without a win, Karlsruher SC are 17th and Dynamo Dresden are in the play-off place.
Nürnberg's Mohamed Zoma leads the scoring charts with seven goals, and Hertha's Josip Brekalo has the most assists, five.
