Segunda División: Almería and Eibar set the pace after nine rounds

Segunda División is Spain's second tier, contested by 22 teams. The top two are promoted straight to LaLiga, the sides from third to sixth go into the promotion play-offs, and the bottom four are relegated.

After nine rounds Almería and Eibar are level at the top on 21 points. Almería have won their last five and conceded only five goals, while Eibar have the division's most productive attack with 19. Castellón are a point behind in third, and they and Mallorca have the meanest defences, with four goals conceded each. Sabadell and Sporting Gijón hold the last two play-off places on 16 points, one ahead of Girona.

At the other end, Albacete are still without a win and have a single point, with Ceuta, Cádiz and Real Sociedad B also in the relegation zone. Miguel de la Fuente, Fuentes, A. Marín and Enric Gallego share the scoring lead with five goals each.
