ItalySerie A 2026/27: Inter and Lazio level at the top, Venezia without a point
Serie A is Italy's top division, played as a single national league since 1929, and Juventus are its most successful club. Twenty teams meet home and away over 38 rounds. The top four qualify for the Champions League league phase, with further European places for the clubs just below, and the bottom three are relegated to Serie B. Inter are the defending champions after winning the 2025/26 title with 87 points, and Lautaro Martínez was the league's top scorer with 17 goals.
After six rounds Inter and Lazio are level on 16 points, both unbeaten with five wins and a draw. Inter have won all four home games and have the best attack, 18 goals, while Lazio have won all three away. Roma are third on 14 and have not conceded away from home; they and Cagliari, a surprise fourth, have let in only three goals each, the fewest in the league. AC Milan, fifth, are the fourth unbeaten side.
At the bottom, Venezia, last season's Serie B champions, have lost all six games. Five teams are level on four points, with Parma and Fiorentina in the relegation places alongside Venezia.
Roma's Donyell Malen leads the scoring charts with six goals in six games. Lautaro Martínez, Cagliari's Daniel Maldini, Frosinone's Antonio Raimondo and Monza's Gustavo Varela have four each, and Roma's Paulo Dybala has the most assists, four.
