Serie B 2026/27: Palermo unbeaten at the top, Sampdoria in the relegation zone

Serie B is the second tier of Italian football. Twenty teams meet home and away over 38 rounds. The top two are promoted to Serie A directly and the next six play off for the third place, while the bottom three are relegated and 16th and 17th meet in a relegation play-out. Venezia won the title last season ahead of Frosinone, and Monza went up through the play-offs. Palermo's Joel Pohjanpalo was the top scorer with 25 goals.

After six rounds Palermo lead with 16 points, two ahead of Mantova, with Modena third. Palermo, Mantova and Südtirol are the only unbeaten sides, and Südtirol have conceded just three goals.

Sampdoria are 18th with four points, in the relegation zone with Catanzaro and Juve Stabia.

Cesena's Cristian Shpendi leads the scorers with six goals in six games, and Palermo's Dennis Johnsen has four goals and the most assists, five.
