Aston Villa vs Fenerbahçe preview: Villa look for European relief from a poor league start
Aston Villa host Fenerbahçe at Villa Park (21:00 CEST). Villa won 3-2 at Club Brugge on the opening night, and Fenerbahçe drew 1-1 with Roma in Istanbul.
Europe has been a welcome break for Villa, who are 16th in the Premier League with five points and one league win from six games; they drew 2-2 with Brentford on Saturday. Fenerbahçe are in much better domestic form: fourth in the Süper Lig with 13 points, they won 3-0 at Rizespor at the weekend and beat Eyüpspor 8-0 last month.
Villa won the only previous meeting, 1-0 in Istanbul in the Europa League league phase in January 2026. Villa are without Amadou Onana and Ian Maatsen, while Fenerbahçe are missing Jayden Oosterwolde and Mert Müldür. Talisca has four Champions League goals this season for Fenerbahçe, including qualifying, and Mason Greenwood two goals and two assists.
